PGI Slopes of Kitherona (ΠΓΕ Πλαγιές Κιθαιρώνα)

In the eastern part of Central Greece (the southern segment of the Greek mainland), the PGI Slopes of Kitherona (ΠΓΕ Πλαγιές Κιθαιρώνα) zone (est.2002) comprises parts of two districts. In the district of Viotia the zone includes the areas of Pyli, Skourta and Stefani in the municipality of Dervenohoria; in the district of eastern Attiki the zone includes the municipality of Afidnes. Zone vineyards must be planted at altitudes ranging from 300 to 400 meters.

The PGI Slopes of Kitherona wine zone is one of the few comprising parts of two districts. In the 2010 revision it was redefined geographically and had the Malagousia and Agiorgitiko cultivars added to its repertory, but it will no longer produce the medium-sweet rosé type of wine.
