PGI Krannonas (ΠΓΕ Κραννώνα)
In the district of Larissa, in the eastern part of Thessalia (Thessaly) region, the PGI Krannonas (ΠΓΕ Κραννώνα) zone, established in 2006, is identified with the area of the municipality of the same name. Zone vineyards must be planted at altitudes ranging from 300 to 400 meters.
The area where ancient Krannon once was lies in the southwestern part of the Larissa district. The PGI Krannonas zone occupies a hilly area near the village of Vounena, right in the middle of the plain of Thessalia. The hills are of medium height and their slopes are home to the zone’s vineyards.
