In the district of Xanthi, western Thrace, the PGI Avdira (ΠΓΕ Άβδηρα) zone (est.1997) encompasses the municipal areas of Avdira, Mandra and Myrodato and the Maggana area in the municipality of Topinos. Vineyards must be planted at altitudes of up to 300m.

Situated in the southern part of the Xanthi district, the greater area of Avdira is of enormous archeological interest and has a long winegrowing and winemaking tradition. Today, it is one of the most active winegrowing areas of Thrace.

White Wines: Athiri, Muscat of Alexandria, Assyrtiko, Roditis, Zoumiatiko, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Ugni blanc.

Red Wines: Pamidi, Limnio, Mavroudi, Syrah, Merlot, Grenache Rouge, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Rosé Wines: Roditis, Pamidi, Limnio, Mavroudi, Syrah, Merlot, Grenache Rouge, Cabernet Sauvignon.
