PGI Dodekanese (ΠΓΕ Δωδεκανήσου)

The demarcated area for the production of PGI Dodekanese (ΠΓΕ Δωδεκανήσου) comprises all of the islands of the Dodeκanese (Dodecanese) complex. The Dodecanese Islands have a strategic position in the eastern part of the southern Aegean Sea, very close to the borders with Turkey. Vineyards lie at an altitude of more than 20m. above sea-level.

The characteristics
Overall, the islands enjoy a typical Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and mild winters. Summer heat is usually moderated by sea breezes and winds, particularly along the coastal vineyards. Due to the variation in altitudes, soils and orientations, Dodecanese islands offer an abundance of different terroirs, capable of producing fruit of excellent quality.
