PGI Pallini (ΠΓΕ Παλλήνη)

In the district of eastern Attiki (Attica), region of Attiki which includes the capital Athens, the PGI Pallini (ΠΓΕ Παλλήνη) zone (est.1992) is identified with the municipal area of the same name.

Pallini, which includes the area of Kantza, is situated on the northern side of Mount Hymettus, in the northwestern part of Mesogia plain. The area’s winegrowing and winemaking tradition is long and venerable. In the past, the area produced the Kantza white wine from the Savatiano variety. Had it survived to our days, this white could have been a PDO wine but, due to a number of reasons, production of the Kantza wine stopped. The PGI Pallini wines were established in its place, together with the wines of the remaining PGI zones of greater area of Mesogia (Koropi, Markopoulo, Peanea and Spata) whose composition is based on the Savatiano variety.
