Kamkoutis Vineyards

Between Lake Polyfyto and the Pieria Mountains, at the foot of Mount Velventos, Yiannis and Maria Kamkoutis chose to take advantage of the special terroir of the area to establish their vineyard. About 8 hectares of vineyards contain varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Xinomavro and the local varieties of Tsapournakos, Limnionas, Petsiariko, Koukouli and Dogo.

The vineyard is dominated by a stone-built winery which is open to visitors and lies in a beautiful environment with a breathtaking view and a multi-purpose space where visitors can taste the wines and enjoy the hospitality – both good reasons to return.
The winery also holds tasting and educational workshops, social and cultural events and in general offers visitors an introduction to the wonderful world of wine.

The winery has three labels: Kourites Red, Kourites Rosé and Kourites White. The “Kourites” name is regional. That is what the large wooden barrels that were used to store the wine of this area were called.

The two-storey winery houses the vinification, maturation and aging (cellar) areas on the ground floor and basement, while the first floor is where the events hall, wine tasting room and offices are located. The company is a verticalised agricultural business and makes wine from grapes grown exclusively in its privately owned vineyards.

Visitors may combine a tour of the Kamkoutis Vineyards with a tour of beautiful Velvento in Pieria to view sites of incomparable natural beauty, visit archaeological sites and monuments, museums and many other notable sights of the area.
