Ktima Pavlidis
Ktima Pavlidis is situated in the region of Drama, in northern Greece, in a narrow valley surrounded amphitheatrically by three big mountains (Falakro, Menikio, and Pangeo); in the middle of them, the Aegean Sea. This geographical modification provides our vineyards with a special mesoclimate, with cool winds during the night that prolong the ripening period and give the opportunity to berries to reach the optimum maturity level slowly.
The aim of Ktima Pavlidis is the production of premium wines, revealing the unique characteristics of our region, a terroir used from ancient times until today for vine cultivation To fulfill this goal, the Estate has planted 65 hectares of privately-owned vineyards with native and international wine grape varieties in order to achieve a complete control of the quality of its production. Modern viticultural practices (like RDI – regulated deficit irrigation) and the installation of two meteo stations ensure optimum berry ripening, while, the hand-picking of the grapes during the night and their conservation in refrigerated areas for some hours after the harvest, helps in preserving the aromatic and phenolic potential of the berries. A state-of-the-art winemaking technology based on the principal of the minimum forces exercised on the grapes and the must ensures a perfect extraction of the grapes’ aromatic and flavor virtues.
THEMA is a family of wines of Ktima Pavlidis, including the white blend of Assyrtiko and Sauvignon Blanc, the red blend of the noble Agiorgitiko and Syrah and a monovarietal rosé from grapes of Tempranillo. There are also the mono varietals wines of Assyrtiko, often described as Greece’s best white winegrape, Chardonnay, Syrah and Tempranillo.
