Aoton Winery

Aoton is the ancient Greek word that defines the finest specimen of its class. Today, this name represents the winery dedicated to producing the finest wines.

At the same place, in the heart of Peania in the Old Village, where someone finds the authenticity of Mesogeian architecture when walking in the narrow streets and where people have deep-rooted relationship with the vine and wine, three generations ago, the winery “Patitiri” was the traditional pressing of grapes from the family owned vineyards.

This long tradition of viticulture and wine production is continued by the oenologist Sotiris Gkinis.

The family vineyards cover an area over ten hectares. They are linearly placed, forming a double Royat, giving a low yield per plant, where the soil is mostly clayey sand (SC), slightly alkaline and the climate is temperate Mediterranean with hot, dry summers and mild winters.

The white grape varieties are Savatiano and Roditis and the red is Mandilaria. They give three varietal wines and one Retsina, trademarks of a traditional winery located in the heart of the Mesogeia Land in Attica.
