Kos
Most vineyards in Kos are located at the foot of Mt. Dikaio at an altitude of 300m (980 ft.). Although viticulture has been active on the island since antiquity, it has never been a main source of income for its inhabitants. These days, significant efforts are being made for the revival and qualitative improvement of viticulture by the island’s two, only, wine producers. Both international and indigenous varieties are cultivated, from which very good quality wines are produced. The greatest part of the production is distributed on the local market, for meeting the needs of the tourist industry.
