Ikaria

Icaria’s topography and climate are similar to Rhodes’, with the island’s high vineyards planted in terraces. Even in antiquity Icaria produced the famous Pramnian Wine, which, according to references in ancient sources, was a high-alcohol red wine. Mandilaria is the most important variety with Assyrtiko, Athiri, Fokiano, Kotsifali and Begleri following. Of these, the white Begleri and the red Fokiano are of particular interest.
