PGI Serres (ΠΓΕ Σέρρες)

The PGI Serres (ΠΓΕ Σέρρες) zone (est.1995) comprises the homonymous district in central Macedonia’s northern part.

Although the PGI Serres zone was established as early as 1995, it took the area another 10 or so years before its viticultural and winegrowing industries recorded any substantial growth, which saw the opening of many new wineries. This led to the subsequent revision of PGI Serres in 2004, when its varietal selection was broadened.
