Vineyards can start at 200m. above sea level and they can reach up to 850m., in the most mountainous parts. Korinthos boasts a wide range of soils and orientations. The best vineyards are found on the slopes. Autumn season can be rainy putting a risk in late-harvested grapes such as Agiorgitiko.

The grape varieties

The red variety Agiorgitiko (which also participates in the production of PDO Nemea wines (ΠΟΠ Νεμέα) plays an important role in the local vineyard. It is widely used in the production of rosé PGI Korinthos as well as for blends of Agiorgitiko with international grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. These “super-blends” are excluded from the PDO Nemea (ΠΟΠ Νεμέα) rules. Roditis and Moschofilero are widely used for the production of white and rosé wines.
