PGI Evros (ΠΓΕ Έβρος)

The PGI Evros (ΠΓΕ Έβρος) zone (est.2010) comprises the homonymous northeastern district which borders with Turkey and Bulgaria. Zone vineyards must be planted at altitudes exceeding 30m.

The Evros vineyards are planted mainly in the district’s central (area of Soufli) and northern parts (area of Trigono). Evros’s long tradition in winegrowing and winemaking has finally been vindicated through the establishment of the zone, where the presence of the native, red varieties of Karnachalades, Mavroudi, Bogialamades and of the blushing Pamidi variety is worthy of note.
